On holding lectures at BSU on actuarial calculations in auditing

On December 19, 2024, Business Assurance employees visited Belarusian State University, Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, with a lecture on: “The role of actuarial calculations in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)”.

During the lecture for 3rd and 4th year students of the specializations “economic cybernetics” and “actuarial mathematics”, the following issues were highlighted:

• The concept and composition of financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS in the Republic of Belarus.
• Evaluation of liabilities for employee benefits (IAS 19 “Employee benefits”).
• Evaluation of liabilities for insurance services provided (IFRS 17 “Insurance contracts”).
• Evaluation of reserves (IAS 37 “Estimated liabilities, contingent liabilities and contingent assets”).
• Evaluation of decommissioning and environmental remediation liabilities (IAS 16 “Property, plant and equipment”).
• Evaluation of expected credit losses (IFRS 9 “Financial instruments”).

The students were also told about the demand for specialists involved in actuarial calculations, the possibility of applying their knowledge to work in Business Assurance, professional growth and career in our company.
